Restless night but finally up at 1030-missed breakfast-TRAGEDY. Decide to walk to DINNER restaurant, got hopelessly lost-took taxi(as a result will have to put off retirement for 2 more years)-DINNER is Heston Blumenthal's London branch and was voted 9th best restaurant in the world!http://www.theworlds50best.com/awards/1-50-winners/dinner/. I haven't been to the top 8 but they must be something-here is the menu:http://www.dinnerbyheston.com/menus. Met up with buddy Robert Stewart who has arranged the booking for us-haven't seen him in 30 years. For the record I ate the Savoury Porridge, Veal Sweetbreads with Roast Chicken Sauce(special of the day), Tipsy Cake and Ice Cream prepared at the table; Robyn had Meat Fruit(Chicken Liver Parfait looking like a mandarin(sic)), Pork Chop and Tarte of Strawberries. Following this humble repast we perambulated across Hyde Park to the top of the Hilton for cocktails and a view over all London including Buckminster Palace-then by taxi to Covent Garden for stunning performance of Falstaff by Joe Green, though we may have nodded off for a few nanoseconds(pint of Youngs Bitter at 1/2 time)-walk back to hotel through lively London and so to bed.
